South Minneapolis - Tangletown Neighborhood - Home was built in the early 20's, the previous family room had a dropped ceiling and a partition wall making it feel very enclosed. We opened up this room by removing the wall, installing glassblock windows on each side of the fireplace. Installed book shelves to the left with a wood storage area below and an entertainment center to the right. We also installed slate tile in front of the fireplace and shelves/wood box, acid etched the fireplace brick to bring out the natural color. The "Tiffany" sconces, recessed lighting and the natural light from the glassblock and pop-open windows gives this family room a very comfortable and open feeling in a old home.
